WAUK Newsletter 16/12/2015

We would like to extend our thanks to all of you who have continued to support Welfare Association’s work throughout this year. Here is a final roundup of what we have been up to recently:

1. New Emergency Winterization Project in Lebanon

In Lebanon we have just begun a new emergency project providing emergency winter assistance to Palestinian refugee families living in and around Wavel refugee camp in Baalbek in the Beqaa Valley in eastern Lebanon. This project will provide 850 Palestinian refugee families from Syria (PRS) and 170 of the most vulnerable Palestinian refugee host community families in Lebanon (PRL) with vouchers for essential winter items, such as fuel, warm clothes and bedding. These families struggle to cover their most basic needs, particularly during the harsh winter months so this distribution should provide them with urgent assistance they desperately need.

2. Christmas Appeal: Emergency Home Repairs for Families in Gaza

Gaza Family Shelter.pngDisplaced family sheltering on destroyed home

We have just launched our Christmas Appeal to provide emergency home repairs in Gaza to enable families whose homes were damaged in the bombardment of July and August 2014 to return home. We are providing essential repairs to partially damaged homes: to roofs, windows, doors and repairing walls with holes. Homes will be safe, secure and weatherproof so families may return and resume their daily lives.

A year has passed and these families need to go home. Please help us make this happen.
