Ramadan Fresh Food Parcels

Emergency food production and distribution supporting marginalised farmers and impoverished families in Gaza.

This Ramadan, we will be distributing nutritional fresh food parcels. Fruit and vegetables are purchased from struggling local farmers in Gaza, in our project to restore their livelihoods and return their land to productivity. We will also employ local workers to prepare the parcels in the warehouse including fresh meat, eggs, vegetables and fruit. Each week for the five weeks of Ramadan a fresh food parcel is provided to hundreds of impoverished families.

In the fifth week just before Eid, cookies produced by local Womens’ Co-operatives will also be purchased and included in the fresh food parcel, enabling these women to also have an income for Eid. (As below)

2.1 million Palestinians in Gaza are approaching their 12th year under illegal Israeli blockade. A population that is 80% refugees, (with half under the age of 18, and 70% women and children) is facing the worst economic conditions in years. Latest estimates in January 2019 indicate that 43.6% of the population is unemployed, 65% live below the poverty line on less than approximately £1.50 per day, and four in five are dependent on aid, with 72% of families short of food.

Through generous donations to this project during Ramadan 2018, we were able to support over 4,000 families, and 630 farmers as well as providing 6,000 working days for Gaza’s unemployed workforce affected by the blockade. With the help of your donations we aim to support 8,000 impoverished families, 200 local workers, 1,000 farmers and producers.

Please donate generously this Ramadan.

Thank you.
