Gaza Community Based Rehabilitation Appeal

Providing specialised and community-based rehabilitation services for children with disabilities in Gaza

Children with disabilities and special needs in Gaza are the most vulnerable and disadvantaged. For over a decade Welfare Association has prioritised and supported children with disabilities, especially in Gaza – as the number of children with disabilities has increased due to the conflict there.

NSR2-220.jpgWe develop smaller community based rehabilitation (CBR) projects in response to the needs of children in specific locations in Gaza and working directly with leading local Palestinian NGOs there.

CBR services provided for these children include: physiotherapy, medical/nursing services and psychosocial support. Urgently needed supplies are provided including: assistive devices, medical disposables and medications and high-nutrient milk. Family awareness on issues related to disability will be raised through family counselling sessions, and parents will be trained to continue physiotherapy routines and exercises with their child so that the benefits these sessions bring are maintained after the project finishes, and the child’s co-ordination and movement is maximised to the extent possible.

Please support this appeal and help us to continue this important work
