Where is the application of international law in Gaza, as crisis escalates?
Welfare Association (WA) supports
humanitarian and development
projects for Palestinians. In 2006/7 it made
a notable shift away from development
projects in Palestine into higher levels of
emergency support.
Of grave concern is the humanitarian crisis
in Gaza, where 1.4 million Palestinians are
collectively punished and isolated from the
rest of the world, in a densely populated area
similar in size to the Isle of Wight. The main
crossing points into and out of Gaza are shut
down for long periods and essential fuel
supplies are stopped intermittently by Israel.
Stocks of food, and other goods are severely
depleted with Hospitals running out of drugs,
and wells unable to pump water.
