Qurbani Appeal 2017

Mahmoud family take shelter in disused storage shed

Qurbani appeal for the religious festival of Eid Al Adha

This project will provide assistance to families during the important Islamic festival of Eid Al Adha, known as ‘the Feast of Sacrifice’, where families gather to pray, enjoy traditional meat dishes and give gifts to their children. It marks the end of the period of “hajj” when Muslims complete their pilgrimage to the holy Ka’aba in Mecca, this holiday is a time of religious celebration. Distributions of packages of fresh meat will enable these impoverished Palestinian refugee families to enjoy a much needed nutritious meal.

This year the Qurbani project will support Palestinian refugees who fled the conflict in Syria and are now sheltering in South Lebanon in Rashidiyeh, El Buss and Burj El Shemali refugee camps. The project will distribute fresh meat to at least 1,650 of the most vulnerable families in these camps, for example, female-headed households and those families who suffer from chronic illnesses, have elderly relatives or have at least one family member with a disability.

Approximately 4,950kg of fresh beef will be required to provide 1,650 x 3kg-packages of fresh Qurbani meat. This project will benefit a total of 9,075 people, it is expected that at least half of these will be children.

Please donate generously to this project for Eid Al Adha.
