Since 2007, when it was initiated by a private donor in the UK in memory of her daughter, the Shirin Fund has raised over US$ 130,000 to cover otherwise unaffordable expenses of specialized surgeries and hospital care for children with special needs in poor families. To-date this project has now assisted 128 children.
Welfare Association established Shirin’s Fund for Children’s Surgeries in co-operation with Al Makassed Hospital in Jerusalem, and surgeries may include orthopaedic, plastic, heart, repair of anomalies, eye problems, etc.
With more than £30,000 raised at the fundraising dinner in November 2009 for this project, Welfare Association will continue seeking funds to be able to offer more children in need the possibility of these life-changing surgeries.
